Royal Edinburgh Hospital Masterplan
Working with Archial Norr architects the masterplan aims to provide a modern hospital environment, whilst delivering a landscape strategy that significantly improves the external environment of the existing campus.
The Landscape Strategy has been developed following a thorough site analysis process and close dialogue with NHS Lothian. Careful consideration has been given to the important and sensitive nature of the site and its existing features, including a significant historic urban orchard.
The hospital campus landscape is key to delivering a range of health and therapeutic benefits including: immediately accessible, high quality therapeutic spaces associated with buildings; a clear, legible network of green and open spaces throughout the campus; outdoor spaces that are convivial and of a human scale; an enhanced wider parkland landscape that acts as a therapeutic and recreational resource for patients, staff and visitors; and clear and legible vehicular and pedestrian routes that serve patients, staff and visitors.
