A new neighbourhood in Dundashill, Scotland’s largest Passivhaus-certified residential project to date.

erz designed the external spaces at Dundashill, transforming post-industrial land in north Glasgow into a new neighbourhood. The landscape brings together rain gardens, active travel routes, and a network of resident spaces that foster connection—both between neighbours and with the natural environment.

Semi-private gardens are positioned to capture long views over Glasgow while providing shelter from strong winds. The design emphasises a residential character through varied scales, integrated structures and opportunities for socialising, avoiding an institutional feel. Planting is selected for biodiversity and seasonal change, with species chosen to respond to wind and movement, reinforcing the sensory quality of the gardens.

At the western end of the site, an urban play park provides space for a wide range of ages, with features including a skate park, parkour elements, and flexible open areas for community events and informal socialising. The design is set within bands of woodland planting, framing views across the city. This layered landscape creates an active, adaptable environment to support play, performance, and gathering.
