Ruth graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with an MA in Landscape Architecture in 2010, and went on to work for Camlins in North Wales, and then Vogt Landscape Architects in Zurich, Switzerland. Ruth has also worked as a freelance journalist for the Landscape Institute journal.
Ruth has a strong interest in ecological design, therapeutic design, heritage futures, and creative placemaking. Ruth has explored her landscape interests more deeply with a period in academia, and in 2016 she gained a PhD from the University of Glasgow. Ruth’s strong links with academia continue to inspire her design practice and creative approaches to site and community engagement
Ruth has taught at Glasgow School of Art, Edinburgh College of Art, and the University of Glasgow.
Ruth joined erz at the beginning of 2022.
