erz have been involved on a voluntary basis with the conceptual design of a new play space at Merrylee School in Glasgow. Working with staff and parents we developed the ideas and initial sketches for the 'Urban Jungle' - a new natural playground that uses landform, planting, trees and recycled elements to create a series of outdoor spaces for imaginative play. This is the first scheme of its type in a school in the UK, and is a pilot project for the City Council and the Forestry Commission who are co funders. The City Council adopted the conceptual plan and built the play area which opened for use in autumn 2009.
