A proposal for a temporary installation in a disused copper mine, in the town of Kapunda, at the edge of the Barossa Valley wine area in South Australia. The project is an investigation of place and the idea that chemistry is at the core of landscape change in this region: from the processes of the wine industry to the extraction of copper with sulphuric acid. The project is located in a partially flooded open cast mine. The water is contaminated with copper sulphate, giving it an ultra vivid aqua marine colour. Metal channels containing wine are laid across the lake. These house a grid of metal poles, with attached lights. The lights are powered chemically: a copper and zinc electrode in the wine generating enough current to light the lights.
