erz and NVA were appointed in February 2009 to undertake a strategic study focused on urban food growing in the Glasgow Metropolitan Region. erz have led the development of the strategy and scoping study, working in close dialogue with NVA. The study is based on a comprehensive analysis of the current position, informed by extensive consultation and research. The innovative strategy is focused on generating a massive step up in community and local food growing activity. Strategy aims are to re-engage the urban population with the act of growing and the production of food: to simplify, localise and express links between production and consumption of fruit and vegetables, composting and compost use, recycling and reuse of materials: to reanimate lost spaces in the urban fabric, bringing human presence and activity to currently dead spaces.
