erz were part of the winning team for the Bellgrove development design competition, led by Dawn Homes & Page/Park Architects. Our role was to programme and design the core public realm space within the scheme. The space sits on a suspended deck over the rail line that cuts through the site. The design connects the rail platform below to the plaza and focuses all access and movement: from the rail station, parking and bike storage through the space to the housing. The scheme incorporates an existing shed structure, stripping it back to a portal frame within which a green canopy is suspended. A fragmented set of curves in section, the canopy forms a distinctive landmark and identity for the space
